BEN Large became the first Drybrook captain for 11 years to lift the Forest of Dean Combination Senior Cup after a tense victory against holders Cinderford United.

On a bright, blustery, afternoon a crowd of over five hundred gathered at a resplendent Mannings as both sides’ defences were at their peak.

The game was well into its second quarter before the large crowd were treated to a score, as the United pack denied Drybrook until James Clancy kicked a well-struck penalty.

From the restart Cinderford kicked long and were able to put Drybrook under pressure before young outside-half Joe Winfield was able to clear with a long kick downfield.
