CINDERFORD TOWN manager Matt Driscoll has resigned from his role after two and a half years in charge, the club has confirmed.
The club announced the news in a statement released on Sunday, December 14, thanking Driscoll for his contribution and wishing him well for the future.
The statement said: “We can confirm that Matt Driscoll has resigned as first-team manager. We’d like to thank Matt for all he has accomplished here at Cinderford Town and wish him the best for the future. Matt took us to the Southern League first time of asking and quickly became a fan favourite. Matt will always be welcome back to Cinderford.”
The club added that no further comment would be made at this time.
Driscoll later paid tribute to the club, its supporters and those behind the scenes, describing his spell in charge as a memorable period.
He wrote: “Just want to thank everyone who’s involved with Cinderford Town for the last two and a half years. It’s been a rollercoaster of a journey and I’ve loved every minute of it. Very special club and all the people around it.”
Driscoll departs having overseen one of the most successful spells in recent seasons, highlighted by promotion to the Southern League at the first attempt.
Driscoll was appointed Cinderford Town manager in June 2023, ahead of the 2023–24 season, joining from Welsh side Aberbargoed Buds, where he had built a highly successful double-winning side, clinching both the league title and cup.
Before his move to the Forest of Dean, he had also managed Aberdare Town and held coaching roles with Afan Lido, AFC Porth and Merthyr Town Academy
Cinderford Town have yet to announce who will take charge of first-team affairs following his resignation.
