NEWENT Town Women FC are kicking off the Christmas season with a festive quiz night on Friday, December 12, as the club looks to raise funds to support their impressive campaign.

The fundraiser, held at Newent Town Football Club, is open to all and aims to bring the community together for an evening of entertainment while backing one of the town’s most successful teams. Entry costs £5 per person, with teams of up to eight invited to take part.

Alongside the quiz, visitors will be able to enter a bumper festive raffle stacked with prizes donated by local businesses and supporters.

Among the items up for grabs are a drill and screwdriver set with tape measure, a cordless recipro saw, an angle grinder, a £15 Wholly Gelato voucher, two personal training sessions, a two-week online fitness programme and treats from Wilson’s Cookies and Cakes.

The women’s side have given supporters plenty to cheer so far this season. They remain unbeaten in the league after five matches, having won four and drawn one.

Their strong run of form has put them third in the table on 13 points, and they still hold three games in hand on leaders Cheltenham Civil Service Ladies Firsts, who sit on 19.

Player and club secretary Megan Sterry said the evening would double as a festive get-together and a vital fundraiser for the team’s ambitions.

She said: “This quiz night is a fantastic chance for the community to come together, celebrate the festive season, and support the ongoing growth of women’s football in Newent.”

Organisers say everyone is welcome, whether they are regular quiz-goers or simply looking for a fun evening out.

Raffle tickets will be available on the night, with cash preferred for entry. Anyone wanting more information can contact the club via [email protected].
