DRYBROOK RFC have announced the appointment of Andy Ford as their new backs coach, joining forces with head coach Chris Fortey ahead of what the club has described as “an exciting new chapter” for the Green Army.
Ford arrives at the Mannings with a stellar coaching record that has seen him thrive at both university and representative level.
He was recently crowned BUCS Super Rugby Coach of the Season after steering Hartpury University to a remarkable third successive league title, cementing their dominance in the top tier of university rugby.
His influence also extended to the women’s game, where he helped guide Gloucester-Hartpury to their third straight Premiership Women’s Rugby title.
Renowned for his attacking brand of rugby and his ability to nurture emerging talent, Ford’s arrival is seen as a major coup for Drybrook.
His work at Hartpury has been widely praised for blending tactical precision with an exciting, fast-paced style that encourages players to express themselves and play with confidence.
In 2025, Ford was also appointed Head Coach of the England Students Women’s programme, taking charge of the team’s relaunch after a 20-year hiatus.
The club say Ford’s appointment will complement Fortey’s vast experience as a former Premiership player and coach, creating what they believe will be a “formidable coaching partnership.”
The club also bid a fond farewell to Bradley Morgan, who departs after an impressive spell in the coaching team. Having served as both Strength and Conditioning Coach and Interim Backs Coach, Morgan’s impact on and off the pitch has been praised by players and staff alike.
A proud Drybrook product who came through the club’s junior ranks, Morgan has been described as “a true club man” whose energy and commitment have left a lasting mark. He leaves to go travelling, but the club said he will “always be part of the Drybrook family.”
