Hartpury’s football pathway has enjoyed a standout few weeks, with success across men’s and women’s programmes underlining the national strength of both Hartpury University and Hartpury College.
At representative level, nine Hartpury students have been selected for the 2026 English Universities Sport South Men’s squad, a significant achievement that reflects the depth of talent within the programme.
The group is captained by Joshua Roney and includes Sam Kelly, Solomon Kent, Nathan Jenkins, Noah Coates, Jacob Towns, Seth Locke, Vanylson Silva and Louis Manning. Having such strong Hartpury representation, including the squad captain, highlights the effectiveness of the institution’s integrated approach to academic study and high-performance football.
The women’s pathway has also been in the spotlight on the national stage. Hartpury players featured on opposing sides in the England Colleges v England Universities fixture, with Clara Zaffignani lining up for the colleges and Emine Akkurt representing the universities.
The match finished 1–1 and showcased the smooth progression available from college to university football within the Hartpury system.
Meanwhile, Hartpury College’s Junior Women’s 1s are celebrating cup success after a convincing 5–2 victory over Bede Sixth Form in the England Schools U18 Women’s Super League Cup quarter-final on Friday, February 13.
Amaia Green led the way with a hat-trick and was named Player of the Match, while Erin Williams and Alishia Mabombo were also on the scoresheet. The win books a place in the national semi-finals next month, with a potential final at Stoke City in May.
These achievements sit alongside strong senior progression. Hartpury FC are competing at Step 4 of the Southern League and remain in the play-off picture, while Hartpury Women FC are second in Tier 7 in their first season and have applied for promotion.
From representative honours to senior football, Hartpury offers a clear pathway for players across the Forest of Dean and beyond.
