CINDERFORD have retained the club’s current coaching staff for next season regardless of their National League One fate.

Director of rugby Paul Morris will stay in charge of the relegation-threatened club, while player-coach Adam Balding will take on a head coach role as well as being available for selection on match days.

Clive Stuart-Smith also stays on in his head coaching role and is expected to return to the fold once fully recovered from a long injury lay-off.

Andrew Stanley, who has helped in a coaching consultancy role, will also feature when called upon, and the club’s medical staff also stay in place.

Morris felt it was of huge importance that the Dockham Road side kept their current coaching team together and said he was ’enthusiastic about the future’.

“When I took over in November it wasn’t something I was seeking but I have enjoyed the job,” Morris said.

“We are a good fit for each other at the moment; the club’s a good fit for me and I feel I’m a good fit for the club.

“I’m not overtly ambitious for myself but I do think I can help the club grow again.

“It was very important that we kept the whole team together. It’s taken a few weeks of negotiations with all parties and we wanted it sorted before Easter, which the management board have done and they’ve stuck to their word.

“They were very open and upfront about everything to be fair to them and it was also hugely important we kept the two physios.

“April is a big month with it being a five-week month and now we can focus on the players. Things have improved since November in terms of the atmosphere around the club but we’re not fools about the position we’re in.

“We’re running out of games to stay in National One but I am enthusiastic about the future whatever level that may be in.”
