A COUPLE of goals by relegated Whitecroft have placed a question mark over who will get promoted from the North Gloucestershire Premier.

Their shock midweek 2-1 win over leaders Blakeney has opened the door to Huntley to be crowned champions and grab the only spot for promotion to the Northern Senior League.

Wins in their final two games would have put Blakeney up but while they beat Longhope 1-4 in their final game last Saturday, the defeat at Whitecroft the previous Tuesday means they are not in control of their fate.

Blakeney hold a four-point lead but Huntley have two games left – the first against third-placed Howle Hill on Saturday (May 2) and the following week at Soudley.

Thanks to their superior goal difference, Huntley can nab the title with a win and a draw.

Goals by Felix Rose and Fletcher King gave Whitecroft the points against Blakeney with Rich Biddington getting the goal for the visitors.

Kieran James got two and there were one each for Bailey James and Luke Roberts as Blakeney ended their campaign with a win.

Dwane Morris scored for Longhope in the 1-4 defeat.

Huntley kept up the pressure with a 7-0 thrashing of JO Cup finalists Westbury United.

Lee James got a hat-trick, Josh Jeffrey scored two and there was one each for Daniel Hall and Bradley Taylor.

The Division One title is still up for grabs and again the current leaders will have to hope another result goes their way.

A win for Geo Sandoe Cup winners Staunton and Corse Reserves in their final game will give them the crown over current leaders Redbrook Rovers.

To win the title they will have to beat Tidenham away in their final game on May 9.

With Redbrook holding a slender one goal advantage in goal difference, a draw would not be good enough.

Whatever the destination both Redbrook and Tidenham will be playing in the Premier next season.

Harrow Hill A are promoted from Division Two as champions along with Geo Sandoe Cup finalists Bream Reserves.

Bream have two games remaining but are eight points behind the leaders.

Ruardean Hill Rangers look favourites to top Division Three.

They are seven points clear of second-placed Lydbrook Athletic and have two games remaining while the chasers have three.

Rangers came back from being 0-1 down against third-placed English Bicknor Reserves.

Second half goals from Luke Johnson and Ryan Shinners gave them a 2-1 victory.

Lydbrook dropped a couple of points as they drew 1-1 at Broadwell A.

Brandon Leach scored for the home side with Benedict Harris getting the goal for Lydbrook.

Lydney Town Ladies are also preparing for a cup final.

Lydney, who are currently third in Division Four of the Gloucestershire County Women’s League, take on Division Three leaders Bishop Cleeve Development in the final of the Sue Henson Green Cup.

The final takes place at Cirencester’s Corinium Stadium on Sunday, May 17.

Town booked their place in the final with a 4-0 derby win over Mitcheldean Ladies Lydney go into the final on the back of four straight league and cup wins.

Their most recent league game saw them beat fourth-placed Wessex Wanderers 4-2 courtesy of a Kiera Fisher brace and one each for Gemma Jenkins and Tia Watts.
