Forestry England plans new access road
Forestry England has submitted a planning application to the Forest of Dean District Council for a new access road near Hoarthorns Farm and Lower Carters Piece Farm, Blakeney.
The land, recently acquired for woodland creation, will feature a 1,670-metre road, 3.4 metres wide, surfaced with compacted stone. The site has long-standing agricultural use and the road is deemed necessary for forestry operations. Archaeological assessments have been completed, with recommendations from Cotswold Archaeology followed. The application falls under permitted development rights for agricultural and forestry use.
Tree works Blakeney property
An application has been submitted to Forest of Dean District Council for tree works at a Blakeney property under reference P1063/25/TCA. The proposal includes pollarding two Norway Maple trees at the front of the property to match the height of the house, and reducing a Holly tree to around 2.5 metres. These works aim to manage growth and maintain safety and appearance. The application is open for public comment and can be viewed via the council’s planning portal.
