Significant changes could be coming to the local landscape as the Forest of Dean District Council reviews a trio of new planning applications, ranging from major agricultural expansions to historic village developments.

Headlining the proposals is a massive upgrade at Mile Bridge Dairy on Stockwell Lane in Aylburton. Classified as a "major development," the application outlines plans to erect a substantial new building designed to house a state-of-the-art, 60-point rotary milking parlour along with its associated works. If approved, the project represents a major modernization effort for the local dairy farming sector.

Meanwhile, the historic village of Staunton is also seeing activity. Homeowners at April Rise on Ledbury Road Crescent have submitted plans for a rear, single-story glass room extension. Because the property sits within a conservation area, planners will carefully assess how the modern glass structure affects the setting of nearby listed buildings.

Just down the road at The Hawthorns, a separate application seeks permission to build a portal frame building. The structure is intended as a fodder store to support an existing cattle rearing enterprise, which also neighbours a listed building.

Residents wishing to view the full plans can do so online at www.fdean.gov.uk or in person at the Council Offices on High Street, Coleford. The public has until June 10, to submit any formal comments or representations regarding these developments.

Road closed at Brand Green Road

Motorists in the Forest of Dean face continued disruptions today as emergency utility works force the temporary closure of a key local route.

Gloucestershire County Council implemented an official traffic order on Tuesday to shut a 300-metre section of the C66, known locally as Brand Green Road. The closure spans from outside Collin Park House to Trinity House within Pauntley Parish in the Forest.

The disruption is down to Severn Trent Water, whose teams are on-site carrying out essential infrastructure works. High Street highway officials expect the road to remain closed until 5pm today, May 20th. However, council authorities noted the legal order can remain in place longer if unexpected complications arise.

An alternative diversion route is clearly signed on-site. Gloucestershire Highways confirmed that full access will be strictly maintained for emergency services and residents living directly adjacent to the closure zone throughout the day.
