Residents across the Forest of Dean are being advised to prepare for a series of temporary road closures and footway restrictions throughout October and November. Gloucestershire County Council has announced several temporary orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to allow essential utility works, highway improvements, and safety assessments to take place safely.

West Dean Parish and Cinderford Disruptions

Disruptions begin early in the month in West Dean Parish, where Lansdown Walk will close between ‘Lansdowne House’ and ‘The Cobble’. The 62-metre stretch will be shut from 8am on October 12 until 5pm on October 13 to facilitate sewer connection works for a new build house. Later in the month, Pine Tree Way will also undergo a 125-metre closure between ‘Amberley’ and ‘Amber Cottage’ from October 29 to October 31 for new water connection works.

In Cinderford Town, Greenway Road faces restrictions on October 14 between 8am and 5pm. A 30-metre section to the rear of Nos. 55 to 59 Church Road will be closed on behalf of Severn Trent Water. Drivers should note that no waiting, stopping, or loading will be permitted along this stretch for the duration of the works.

Carriageway Works and Network Upgrades

Further travel impacts are scheduled for late October in Longhope and Awre. A 170-metre section of Church Road (C34) in Longhope Parish, extending from ‘Courtleet’ to ‘The Coach House’, will be closed for carriageway works from 8am on October 28 until 6pm on October 29.

On the same day, October 28, Awre Road (C25) in Awre Parish will experience a temporary closure and strict waiting, stopping, and loading restrictions. The 70-metre closure east of ‘Well Cottage’ will run from 8amto 6pm to allow works on behalf of Network Plus.

Footpath Closure in West Dean

Walkers in West Dean Parish will also need to adjust their routes as Public Footpath RWD33 closes for nearly two months. Starting October 19, a 185-metre section heading south-east from its junction with the B4234 will be closed until December 11 to safeguard the public during geotechnical investigations.
