Motorists travelling between Redbrook and St Briavels are being warned of a temporary closure on a key stretch of the A466 next month.
Gloucestershire County Council has announced plans to close parts of the A466 Lower Redbrook to Great Grove and A466 from Great Grove to Bigsweir Bridge to allow geotechnical monitoring to be carried out.
The closure will affect the route between its junctions with Highbury Road and Stowe Road, covering approximately 5.1 kilometres.
The road is expected to be closed on Monday, November 9, although the order allows restrictions to remain in force for up to 18 months if the works are delayed or need to continue beyond the planned date.
A signed diversion route will be in place during the closure. Emergency access will be maintained, but pedestrian access will not be permitted through the affected area.

The closure affects sections of the A466 within the Newland and St Briavels parishes in the Forest of Dean.
