Motorists across the Forest of Dean are being advised to prepare for a series of temporary road closures and traffic restrictions affecting roads, footpaths and local routes during late September and October.

Gloucestershire County Council has issued a number of temporary traffic orders to allow telecommunications, highway maintenance, utility and electricity works to be carried out safely.

Lydney will see two separate restrictions. Station Road will close overnight from Monday, September 28 at 11.55pm until Tuesday, September 29 at 6am for Network Rail maintenance at the level crossing. Primrose Hill will also close on Wednesday, September 30 for repairs to defective carriageway reinstatement works, affecting a 145-metre section around its junction with Lynwood Road.

Elsewhere, Grange Court Lane in Huntley will be closed between Monday, September 28 and Wednesday, September 30 for road patching works. The closure covers approximately 1.5km between the A40 and Whitlow Lane and will include restrictions prohibiting waiting, stopping and loading throughout the works.

Crowgate Lane in Westbury-on-Severn is due to close from Wednesday, September 30 at 8am until Thursday, October 1 at 6pm for works on behalf of Network Plus.

Looking ahead, Chapel Lane-style utility works continue elsewhere in the district, with Lansdown Walk in West Dean scheduled for closure from Monday, October 12 at 8am until Tuesday, October 13 at 5pm to allow a sewer connection for a new-build property.

Greenway Road in Cinderford will also be closed and subject to no waiting, stopping or loading restrictions between 8am and 5pm on Wednesday, October 14 for Severn Trent Water works.

In addition to the road closures, Public Footpath RWD 34 in West Dean has been temporarily closed from Monday, September 21 until Wednesday, September 23. The closure was introduced to protect public safety during the filming of fast-moving vehicles.

In all cases, signed diversion routes will be provided where applicable, while pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained.
