A series of road closures and restrictions will take place across the Forest of Dean this month as Gloucestershire County Council carries out a wide programme of utility, drainage and maintenance works.
The orders, made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, affect routes in Drybrook, West Dean, Littledean, Lydney, Westbury‑on‑Severn and Huntley, with some closures lasting only a few hours and others extending across several days.
In Drybrook, C29 Brierley Banks will be shut between 12pm and 5pm on Friday, September 11 for BT Openreach pole‑renewal works.
The closure covers approximately 190 metres between the properties Gida Namu and Forest View. A second BT Openreach scheme will close Baptist Way from Monday, September 14 to Wednesday, September 16, affecting a 40‑metre stretch between Cornerstones and Ashfield Road.
Meanwhile, Batts Lane will be closed for network utility works from 8am on Tuesday, September 15 until 5pm on Wednesday, September 16, covering around 10 metres near Beech View.
A further Drybrook closure will affect Eastwood Road, which will shut from 8am on Tuesday, September 22 until 4pm on Monday, September 28 for new electricity connection works.
In West Dean, C16 Road between the A48 and Pine Tree Way will close daily from 9.30am to 3.30pm between Monday, September 14 and Friday, September 18 for gully‑clearance works. Public Footpath RWD 34 will also be shut from 7am on Monday, September 21 until 7pm on Wednesday, September 23 to allow filming involving fast‑moving vehicles.
Littledean will see two closures: C39 George Lane will be closed and subject to no‑waiting restrictions from Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18 for drainage works, while 403003 Road between Bramble Dean and The Bungalow will shut on Friday, September 25 between 9am and 5pm for BT Openreach works.
In Lydney, C14 Road from Park Hill to Bream Road will close from 8am on Monday, September 14 until 5pm on Tuesday, September 15 for utility works. B4231 Station Road will shut overnight from 11.55pm on Monday, September 28 until 6am on Tuesday, September 29 for Network Rail maintenance. C15 Primrose Hill will also close on Wednesday, September 30 for carriageway reinstatement repairs.
Westbury‑on‑Severn will see Riverside Lane closed from Monday, September 14 to Friday, September 18 for works by Citi Utilities, while Huntley’s Grange Court Lane will be shut and restricted from Monday, September 28 to Wednesday, September 30 for road‑patching works.
Pedestrian and emergency access will be maintained throughout. Alternative routes will be signed on site.
