A FAMILY-RUN Forest of Dean campsite has been named among the best places to stay in the country for the second year running.

Greenacres Campsite, near Coleford, has again secured a place on Campsites.co.uk’s annual list of 150 Outstanding Sites. The selection highlights camping, glamping and touring destinations across the UK which are recognised for providing consistently high standards.

The campsite has continued to develop since receiving the accolade last year, with new bell tents and a shepherd’s hut among its latest additions. The accommodation has expanded the range of stays available alongside its touring and camping pitches.

Greenacres sits on the edge of the Wye Valley, within reach of the Forest of Dean, River Wye and Symonds Yat Rock. Its location makes it a base for visitors exploring the area’s walking routes, cycling trails and attractions.

Further improvements could also be on the way, with proposals currently before Forest of Dean District Council for a new driveway and entrance. The scheme is intended to improve access to the site for visitors arriving in cars, motorhomes and towing caravans.

Campsites.co.uk describes its annual collection as a hand-picked shortlist of camping, glamping and touring sites known for offering visitors a reliably enjoyable stay. Greenacres was also selected for the list in 2025, making its latest inclusion a second consecutive appearance.
