CHARITIES across the Forest of Dean are calling on residents to step forward and give a little time to help their communities thrive.
From supporting young people with disabilities in Coleford to welcoming newcomers to the community in Cinderford, a variety of roles are available.
Forest Pulse: Minibus driver needed
Forest Pulse, based in Coleford, is urgently looking for a volunteer minibus driver to help children and young people with disabilities attend after-school clubs and evening activities.
The charity offers vital opportunities for socialising, learning, and independence-building across the Forest, but needs help transporting its members to and from sessions.
The Forest Community Makers Hub: Share a skill or lend a hand
A new community space in Cinderford is looking for volunteers with practical skills – or simply a willingness to help out.
The Makers Hub, launched in partnership with Gloucestershire County Council, offers workshops for people to meet, learn and connect.
Volunteers can offer to lead sessions, support others to take part, or just be a friendly face welcoming people through the door.
Orchard Trust: Join the animals and help with outdoor sessions
At Orchard Trust’s Stowfield site near Lydbrook, volunteers are invited to help out with sensory outdoor sessions and animal care activities that support people with a range of needs.
The site includes accessible woodland paths, a sensory garden and a smallholding with goats, pigs and rabbits – all used as part of the charity’s therapeutic programmes.
Volunteering roles include assisting with sessions, helping maintain the site, and supporting clients to take part.
Welcome Café: Volunteers needed to support community and refugees
In Cinderford, the Welcome Café offers a safe, supportive space for refugees, asylum seekers and anyone new to the area – and it’s looking for more helpers.
Volunteers are needed to set up, chat with visitors, and help foster a friendly and inclusive environment.
