A LITTLEDEAN man has been ordered to pay a heavy fine and complete a community order, after pleading guilty to affray and assault.
Benjamin Yates, 44, of Beech Way, was sentenced at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court for an incident which occurred in August at The Dog House pub, Cinderford.
In September, Yates admitted causing an affray at the pub and assaulting a woman on the premises.
No compensation was awarded for the assault as magistrates said there was no loss of damage.
However, the court heavily fined Yates for the affray offence. The 44-year-old admitted to using or threatening unlawful violence towards others, and his conduct would cause fear for personal safety.
The magistrates said a fine and compensation were priority, so no costs were sought.
Yates was ordered to pay a £544 fine, £50 compensation and a £114 surcharge.
His community order will continue until October 2027.
