Didcot Town 0
Cinderford Town 0
TOP scorer Lewis Sommers could be out for six weeks after picking up a calf injury in training last Thursday night.
Town boss Steve Peters reacted by bringing in a new striker in Kris Miller.
Miller was at The Causeway last season but moved on to Radstock Town and subsequently Southern League Premier side Frome Town.
He started on the bench as Josh Egan partnered Nick McCootie in attack.
Greg Lewis returned for the suspended Dan Harrison at the back.
This was Cinderford's third 0-0 draw in seven games.
Didcot matched the Foresters in the first half and were thwarted by two smart saves from Ben John.
He superbly kept out a Simeon Howell effort, then got down low to turn a Jamie Heapy shot away.
Cinderford thought they had scored on the stroke of half-time when Miller – on for the injured Matt Barnes – found the net.
Controversially, the goal was disallowed following a desperately late offside decision, even though the referee's assistant had not flagged.
Incensed, Cinderford raised the tempo and they were certainly the better side after the break.
Again, Nick McCootie wasted a golden opportunity to settle the match in his side's favour, but he could not find the net when one-on-one with the Didcot keeper.
Cinderford Town: Ben John, Ashley Malcolm, Matt Smith, Greg Lewis, Andy Lewis, Matt Barnes, Dale Evans (capt), Nick Hancock, Dean Lee, Nick McCootie, Josh Egan. Subs: Kris Miller, Danny Haines, Brad Andrews, Witts.
