LEE Smith won't be returning to The Causeway next season, while Cinderford' s other big name player Dave Bird is weighing up his options.

Ashley Malcolm, Josh Egan, Josh Emery and Jack Camm are others set to leave Cinderford, while Andy Lewis remains in big demand with four or five clubs still chasing him, including Worcester.

Versatile Merthyr defender Jon Newall is joining Town, along with Striker Simon Langley, from Welsh Premier League club Afan Lido.

Kieran Thomas is also expected to stay, despite being offered a contract at Gloucester City and monitored by other clubs.

Town boss Steve Peters is currently in talks with a number of potential new signings, including Jamal Easter, a 25-year-old striker who has played first-team football for Cardiff City, Bristol Rovers, Newport and Torquay.

A former Town favourite Kyle Bassett was all set to return, until being made an offer he could not refuse to play in the Welsh League.

Two players training with Cinderford in pre-season are Sam Hunt, a left winger who was with Hereford, and Tom John, a former Hereford and Swansea midfielder.
