Lydney Town 3
Letcombe 1
MARK Lee's new-look Lydney side made it three league wins out of three at home to Letcombe.
Jarred Liddington and Jonny Kear were missing so striker Matty Timmins kept his place, following his two goals at New College Swindon in midweek.
Jake Morgan, recently released by Cheltenham Town, started on the bench.
Town made a sluggish start and Sam Elliott was shown a yellow card on 10 minutes for a rash challenge on the edge of the box. Ricky Beckett made a fine save from Adam Bruce's free-kick.
Letcombe striker George Thatcher was a real handful, constantly running at the home back four.
Twenty minutes into the game Lydney came to life and Pete Macklin's great turn and shot from 20-yards dipped and hit the crossbar.
A fired up Macklin was shown a yellow card on the half-hour mark, but three minutes later he created the opening goal.
A superb block tackle 30-yards from goal set up a shooting opportunity that Stone could only parry and Danny Clarke was on hand to poke home the rebound. Five minutes later an Adam Price goal was disallowed for offside.
Late in the half, Price broke from midfield to release Clarke down the right flank. His deep cross found Ricky Elliott, whose first time ball was knocked in by Macklin.
Lydney continued to dominate the second half with Macklin, Clarke and Price all going close. Price then took a knock and was replaced by Jake Morgan. It was Morgan who scored the goal of the game, picking the ball up 30-yards out and, with no other options, smashing the ball into the bottom corner. The visitors grabbed a consolation goal five minutes from the end when skipper Adam Pendall strode through the Lydney defence and hammered a shot into the bottom corner.
