OAKLANDS’ Mandeep Jhinger hailed Michael van Gerwen as the world number one visited the Dean on Sunday.
Van Gerwen took on some local darts personalities during his appearance at the Cinderford sports bar and thoroughly entertained those attending, Jhinger said.
“It was an amazing day. It couldn’t have gone any better,” he said.
“He normally only does cities so to get him to a town in the Forest of Dean is great.
“It was a big afternoon full of banter and a lot of laughter. We had over 300 people there.
“He even did some karaoke at the end!”
Before fittingly performing a rendition of R Kelly’s The World’s Greatest, van Gerwen helped auction off a range of sporting memorabilia including boxing gloves signed by man of the moment Anthony Joshua and Welsh hero Joe Calzaghe.
“It’ll be tough to top that,” Jhinger added.
“I’m thankful for all the local support to come out on the day.”
