NICK Selway – who left Lydney to play professionally for Scottish Premiership side Stewart's Melville – is on the verge of signing for Cinderford.
The 22-year-old, nicknamed Salad, turned down several offers (including one to join Cinderford) in order to begin a new rugby life for himself north of the border.
However, after just two trial matches for Stewart's Melville he's turned his back on them and returned south.
Although he's played in a couple of trials for Cinderford, bringing him back to the Forest has not been easy. There have been some delicate negotiations to get him released from his Stewart's Melville contract and Selway has had to pay back all the money he received from the Scottish club.
The tight-head prop said: "When I got up to Scotland the standard was not what I thought it was.
"The rugby is not very physical either and did not suit me.
"They were a good bunch of lads but it was all a bit of a nightmare.
"Now, all I want to do is concentrate on playing for Cinderford."
