SEVENTEEN-YEAR-OLD Sam Roberts (pictured) has been selected for the Welsh under-18s women's hockey squad.

Sam, who lives in Berry Hill, is a sixth former pupil at King's School in Gloucester and plays her club hockey in Bristol for Firebrands.

She was previously a member of the Welsh under-16s squad. The midfielder, who travels to Cardiff every Friday night for squad training sessions, has been selected to play in the Celtic Cup versus Ireland on Friday.

On Saturday Wales play Switzerland and on Sunday they take on Scotland. All three matches will be played at Peffermill in Edinburgh.
