THREE Forest youngsters are following in the example set by World Cup winners Ceri Large and Natasha Hunt as they continue to shine at a high level.

Former Cinderford RFC player Charlie-Mai Manns booked a place in the Girls Under-15s National Cup final with adopted club Worcester on points difference.

After a tense day in the Northern Finals held at Bury RFC, Worcester defeated current national champions Newark 29-10 with Manns scoring all the points, including a try from the opening kick-off.

Her four tries, three conversions and a penalty meant that a draw against Tynedale would be enough to put Worcester in the final, but the Warriors lost 14-0.

The result however was enough to ensure Worcester’s place against Winscombe RFC in the final, to be held this Sunday April 30 at Cheltenham Tigers RFC.

This completed an excellent couple of weeks for Manns, as the previous week she was vice-captain of the South West side that ran out comfortable 32-0 winners over their Midlands counterparts.

Manns scored two tries and one conversion in the victory.

Drybrook Under-18s duo Kirsty Gwilliam and Leah Teague also performed excellently for the South West, as they took on Birmingham Exiles on Sunday.

Teague, who trains with the national talent development group, has also been offered a place at Hartpury College as part of the elite rugby squad.
