LYDNEY head coach Lee Fortey says the Severnsiders will fear no-one after their 20-5 South West One West derby victory over Newent.
The Regentsholme side lost out 43-3 at the Rec in the season opener, giving Lydney a harsh introduction to life at this level following relegation last term.
But tries from captain Sam Arnott, John Barker and Nathan Ford secured a comeback victory after Tommy Devries gave Newent a 5-0 lead.
“We kept going for the full eighty minutes and it took a good disciplined performance for us to get the result,” Fortey said.
“I was very pleased to see forwards and backs combining in some good moves today.
“We kept to our game plan, the forwards went well and totally dominated the line-out and scrum.
“In the backs, we tackled well and looked dangerous every time we had the ball."
