WAYNE Barnes brings his star-studded charity side to Regentsholme this weekend ready to proved what could arguably be the Forest Invitational XV’s toughest test yet.

Premiership referee Barnes has recruited the likes of Ugo Monye, Dafydd James and Karl Dickson to run out against Dave Emery’s merry Forest men.

Andy Goode, Phil Greening and Mark Regan provide back up support while Former Wales and current Lions head coach Warren Gatland will be issuing the team talks for the Barnes XV.

That’s without former Lydney director of rugby and England prop Duncan Bell and ex-Sale second row Dean Schofield taking the field.

Barnes has even recruited renowned fellow referee Nigel Owens and Nick Wood – although whether the two will preside over scrums or take part in them is yet to be determined.

Held in aid of Breast Cancer Now in memory of Barnes’ mother-in-law Debbie Broderick, the event saw 2,000 people turn out at Lydney RFC last year.

On match day, junior games will kick off in the morning and the big match will kicks off at 2pm.

All followed by an auction and live music into the night.

Tickets are available on the gate and entry is £6 for all Over-16s.

There will be a dinner on Saturday May 5, hosted by Barnes, featuring a reception, three course meal and Q&A with the whistle-blower.

For tickets, contact the club on 01594 842479 or email [email protected].

Tickets are £40pp sold individually or as tables of ten.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start and dress code is smart dress/lounge suits.
