THE player accused of biting World Cup winner Ceri Large during a match has been suspended for six weeks.
Elizabeth Crake of Wasps accepted the charge of an alleged bite on former Drybrook RFC product and current Gloucester-Hartpury captain Large during the two teams’ fixture on September 23.
Crake appeared before an RFU disciplinary panel last Wednesday and was cited by Independent Citing Commissioner Tony Lanaway for acts contrary to good sportsmanship, contrary to law 10.4(m) biting.
The incident happened in the second half of Gloucester-Hartpury’s 26-22 home win over Wasps. Crake will be free to play again on November 6 2017.
“The panel found that this merited a low-end entry point,” said chairman of the panel, Dr Julian Morris.
“Due to the player’s swift and full acceptance of the charge, her clear remorse for the event, her previously clean disciplinary record and conduct throughout the hearing, the panel decided to apply full mitigation and reduce the sanction to six weeks.”
The RFU disciplinary panel comprised of Dr Julian Morris alongside Mike Tutty and Becky Essex.
• LARGE featured in Gloucester-Hartpury’s first defeat of the Tyrrells Premier 15s season at Ashton Gate, where they lost 28-20 to Bristol.
