HARTPURY’S status in the Greene King IPA Championship is going right down to the wire after they were thumped 57-12 at Premiership-bound leaders London Irish on Sunday.

Now the Gloucestershire outfit need the Exiles to beat their relegation rivals Richmond on Good Friday and then they defeat eighth-placed London Scottish on Easter Saturday to secure that place in the second tier of English top-flight rugby for a third successive season.

Hartpury’s run of good results came to shuddering halt at the Madejski Stadium as Irish were ruthless in picking up their 18th win from 20 league matches this season.
