A NUMBER of dedicated clubmen in Forest rugby have been recognised for their voluntary efforts.

Drybrook chairman Chris Rawlings and vice-chairman Andrew Milner, as well as Newent men Dennis Hamlen and Gary Gardner, were all nominated for a special award after a year of dedicated work.

They all attended the Gloucestershire RFU Volunteer of the Year awards night last week.

“Andrew was nominated for the award for being a dedicated clubman, covering thankless tasks such as fixtures secretary and referees contact,” a Drybrook RFC statement read.

“Along with those tasks he helps out with second team management, previously serving as captain for five years, and social and entertainment committee leader.

“Also this year he has stepped into the vice chairman’s role, helping to develop links between all sections of the club and raising focus on our ‘one club mentality’.”
