DRYBROOK duo Natasha Hunt and Ceri Large both featured in England’s first two fixture of the Old Mutual Wealth Series to help the Red Roses to a perfect start in the competition.
England defeated France 10-5 at Twickenham Stoop last Wednesday with tries from Amy Cokayne and Marlie Packer in an error-strewn match-up that saw Lichfield’s Hunt start at scrum-half.
Worcester Valkyries cente Large entered the fray after 56 minutes before England travelled to Dublin to take on Ireland on Sunday.
A gritty 12-10 win over the hosts ensued at University College Dublin, when record-breaking cap holder Rocky Clark opened the scoring with a try before Nora Stapleton knocked a penalty.
Stapleton then took a wall-taken try and her conversion split the posts, but England levelled the scoring through Izzy Noel-Smith and Katy McLean’s superb wide conversion earned the win.
Both Hunt and Large came off the bench in that encounter, with Hunt replacing La Toya Mason after 51 minutes and Large coming on for Rachael Burford.
England will next face New Zealand at the Stoop on Saturday, before hosting Canada the following weekend at Twickenham Stadium.
