CINDERFORD director of rugby Paul Morris says the core group of players that have consistently performed during his tenure at the club deserve credit for a constant improvement at Dockham Road.

The Foresters beat Blackheath for the second time this season in dramatic style as a late penalty try saw them 21-16 victors.

And after the game that saw club captain George Porter and Matt Lane make their 100th appearances after weeks of weather-forced delay, Morris was delighted to get back to action with a win.

“I think we deserved to win,” he said.

“That’s four halves of rugby against Blackheath and we’ve had the better of them on the scoreboard throughout.

“There was quite a strong wind in the game and that made it harder than it looked to some on the sideline."
