CINDERFORD were given a points deduction due to a ’clerical error’ in the line-up for their season opening win over Canterbury.

Chairman Rob Worgan explained that the Foresters were at fault for the loss of five points after their registration secretary accidentally deregistered a player who was selected as an unused replacement in the 14-7 victory.

It came as the RFU issued a mandatory data cleanse and requested all clubs deregister players no longer with them.

Worgan added that the club will not be appealling the decision, saying they ’own up’ to the mistake.
