A GOOD crowd turned out at Regentsholme to see Lydney put in a workman-like performance and beat the visitors from North Petherton in South West One West.

The visitors fielded a huge pack but the Lydney forwards were rampant, and, within five minutes, had their first score when captain Dave Bennett crashed through the defence to touch down.

Debutant outside-half Alex Peel added the extras and next took the three points on offer from the kicking tee after a North Petherton forward was sent to the sin-bin.

Further pressure saw the official sin-bin another player after numerous infringements and Lydney seized the opportunity.

A line-out saw a charging Bennett tackled just short but the ball was moved out to Tai Lacabuka who scored out wide, with Pugh converting to make it 17-0.

Virtually on half-time, the visitors had some possession themselves and a slick move across their speedy backs saw Henry Gliddon score.
