WILL Rogers claimed a fantastic maiden rally victory on last Saturday's Bulldog National Rally.
Co-driver Rogers, from Cinderford, teamed up with talented Welshman Matthew Edwards for the first time in a Lancer Evo 9 and they hit it off straight away.
Warm conditions greeted the crews and the dusty stages certainly provided a stiff test.
Edwards and Rogers set the fastest time over the opening eight mile stage, but still suffered a scare or two along the way.
They were fastest again over the second 15-mile stage in Gartheniog where they increased their overall lead to eight seconds.
They consolidated their advantage before attacking again – reaching speeds of 120mph to take a comfortable lead into the final nine mile stage.
Edwards eased his pace but there was last minute drama when the car suffered problems with the front right wheel.
It did not cost them victory and they returned to the Welshpool finish line 27 seconds ahead of the field.
A delighted Will said: "I'm absolutely over the moon. Matt is some driver and we had a big push this afternoon and took a few risks."
"It's great to record my first event win."
