After a temporary hiatus in the weather, the Seniors at Forest Hills, were able to get out on Thursday, in a three- and 4-man Team Cha-Cha-Cha, writes Geoff Norris.
The winners of the four-man competition were Wayne Stewart, Andy Ward, John Auton and Cliff Hill – who was making his debut with the Forest Hills Wrinklies, – as they returned a score of 88 points, and finished three points ahead of Colin Laver, Gareth Roberts, Colin Baird and Jim Fairweather.
Adrian Vines, Roger Hall and Phil Gwynne won the three-man encounter as their score of 83 points saw them finish ahead of Andy Shenton, Bill Peffers and Tim Hollingsworth.
With some temporary greens in play, the twos kitty was restricted to conventional holes on ‘proper’ greens.
Tt was particularly beneficial to Paul Taylor, who registered the only claim, as he birdied the 17th, that saw his bar account adjusted to the tune of £27.
Due to the inclement weather on Friday and over the weekend, although the course remained open, the Saturday Stableford, the England v Wales Golf / Rugby and the seventh round of the Winter League on Sunday were all cancelled.
The elements improved sufficiently to allow the Seniors to take part in their latest competition, a Stroke Index Bowmaker, on Monday.
Again, due to the imbalance of the number of entrants, the competition was split into a three- and four-man formats.
The winners of the Quads, were Paul Adams, Cliff Hill, Colin Laver and Tim Hollingsworth, with 90 points.
John Binnie, Phil Manns and Martin Shipley triumphed in the Triples, with 84 points, with Roger Hall, Andy Shenton and Bill Peffers, two points adrift in second.
The twos kitty was restricted to “standard holes on standard greens”
Nobody managed to birdie the 17th, so the funds will be rolled over.
