Gloucestershire Intermediate Cup Final

North Bristol 10

Berry Hill 13

KING of the comebacks Lee Osborne returned to Berry Hill's ranks to guide them to a surprise cup final win away at North Bristol.

Hill now play Wells or Weston Hornets in the West region final at Lakers Road on December 22. However, Osborne won't be there for that one – he's off to the Ally Pally to watch the world darts with team manager Jamie Elsmore and chairman Nick Harris!

Osborne has not played at all this season for any of Berry Hill's sides but, pressed into action, his experience was key as he took charge of the back line. He also kicked two penalties and converted Chris Watkins's try.

Another man to return and make a difference was Shaun McRoberts, who tied up the ball around the base of the scrum to provide scrum-half Patrick Worgan with a solid foundation to work from.

With players not available or injured Hill's resources were stretched. That made beating a team third in Western Counties North on their own turf even more impressive.

Regular openside flanker Kurt Brown did a good job in the midfield alongside Matt Powell, but Hill's man of the match was Dave Fissenden – returning from a three week suspension. Fissenden was superb in defence, particularly during the final 10 minutes when North Bristol threw caution to the wind.

The hosts worked themselves into a good attacking position for the final play of the game, but Fissenden met the crash attacker head on and ripped the ball from his grasp.
