MANAGERLESS but buoyant – that's how Newent Town chairman Kevin Mason describes the club as they look to emulate – and improve – on their highest ever league position. The new season is already underway, but the club is still looking for new managers for all of its three senior sides and their under-14s. The club's firsts gained back-to-back promotions in the last two years, catapulting them from the North Gloucestershire League Premier Division to Northern Senior One. However, Paul Wilband, who was in charge of the first team, has stepped down and Phil Clarke is focusing on being secretary rather than managing the reserves. Despite their lack of managers, chairman Mason says the club is healthy.
