WORK began this week to replace the floodlights at Lydney Tennis Club.

Buckinghamshire firm Floodlighting Ltd got the job of replacing old for new on courts one and two.

The total cost is around £25,000. The club raised more than half of the money itself, but also received a £12,000 grant from the Gloucestershire Environmental Trust, with landfill tax contributions donated by Cory Environmental.

The new lights will be switched on at the start of the 2013 season.

Formed in 1952, the club recently obtained its first 25-year lease on its Hams Road home.
