LYDNEY-based co-driver Craig Drew is celebrating a sixth consecutive Rally America National Championship with Subaru Rally Team USA’s David Higgins.

The pair re-affirmed their dominance of American rallying with a faultless victory at the Ojibwe Forests Rally, mathematically securing both the Manufacturers’ Championship for Subaru and Driver’s Championship.

After losing time to teammate Travis Pastrana on the opening stage, Higgins and Drew attacked the sandy Minnesota forest stages with vigor, winning all the remaining stages to earn a convincing victory.

“Ojibwe Rally is always a tough event, with over 130 stage miles of technical and twisty roads, and over 60 of those being run at night,” Drew said.

“We pushed hard all event and were able to pull away from the competition to secure a comfortable victory.

“When I first started rallying with my brother and other local drivers from the Forest, I never imagined one day I’d be a professional multiple national champion for a full-factory Subaru team.

“So to wrap up our sixth straight title and my seventh national title in all with Subaru is fantastic.

“We have a contract to the end of 2017 with an option of 2018, so hopefully there are more to come!"
