LYDNEY'S superb record in the Triangular Trophy continued with an excellent 22 point victory on Saturday.

The 20th annual competition between Lydney, Forest Hills and the Forest of Dean was played on Lydney's new course for the first time and home advantage proved decisive.

The competition was launched in 1992 by the three respective captains of the day – Alan Robinson (Lydney), Eddie Beckett (Forest of Dean) and Alan Walker (Forest Hills). Twelve players represented each club with the best 10 Stableford scores counting.

Lydney scored 342 points, to the Forest of Dean's 320, with Forest Hills (306) bringing up the rear.

Conditions remained dry overhead but after heavy overnight rain the course was a little waterlogged in places.

This didn't prevent some excellent individual scores being returned.

Jon Craddock top scored for the Forest of Dean, with Paul Gibson the top Hills scorer (both on 36 points).

Lydney's leading contributor was Joe Collins with 39 points. The key to Lydney's success was their overall strength and an average of more than 34 points per player made them worthy champs once again.
