CAPTAIN Joe Macklin missed this New Year game because of injury and Ross Scott was not available due to work.
Adam Price and James Morse returned.
Lydney made all the running in the first quarter and Jarred Liddington had a goal-bound shot stopped on the line by a defender.
Disaster struck when Jason Wood hit a high dipping shot from 30-yards that deceived Lydney keeper Richard Thomas, who could only palm the ball into the net.
Lydney still enjoyed the greater possession, but on 30 minutes a Dale Emery screamer from 25-yards went over Thomas's head into the net, with the keeper unsighted by the setting sun.
Alex ran through to make it 3-0, a lead Tytherington hardly deserved.
Five minutes into the second half a blocked tackle fell kindly to Jack Smyth, who slid the ball home.
Alex Chapman then outstripped the Lydney defence to make it 5-0 and the same player completed his hat-trick on 65 minutes when the Lydney defence failed to cut out a cross into the box.
The scoring was completed in the 70th minute when James Morse lost his footing in the heavy conditions and brought down an opponent to concede a penalty.
Toby Colbourne stepped up to score from the spot.
With 20 minutes still to play Lydney were facing double figures but, to their credit, they kept battling away. They played some good football at times, with Declan Morley-Lyne having a shot blocked and Jarred Liddington hitting a 20-yard screamer just over the bar.
Lydney's players learned a harsh lesson and they face another tough test this week when Old Woodstock visit The Rec.
Town hope Joe Macklin will recover from injury and that fans favourite Danny Clarke will be available following his recent transfer back to the club from Premier Division Kidlington.
