National Two South
Old Albanians 58
Lydney 8
FORWARDS coach Don Parsons believes Old Albanians are a match for anyone in National Two on their day.
With former Saracens player James Shanahan pulling the strings at 10 and ex-England man Paul Gustard at number eight, they had top level experience in key positions.
Parsons said: "It might sound a strange thing to say when you've just lost 58-8 but I thought we played quite well for an hour. It certainly wasn't all doom and gloom.
"Old Albanians fielded a very strong side on Saturday – I think Paul Gustard has only played for them three times this year, but he's played twice against us."
Old Albanians pounded Lydney with eight tries in total from Terry Adams, Chris May (2), Richard Gregg, Olly Marchon (2), Oliver Cooper-Miller and Scott Spurling.
Gregg kicked two penalties and six conversions.
Lydney were clinging on at half-time, trailing 22-3, but it was one way traffic after the break as the home side got on top.
Lydney: Tony Wicks, Will Kane, Josh Hannam, Alan Bryan, Tai Lakabuka, Josh Innes, Matt Williams (Ross Webb 65), Nick Stoneman (Ashley Jennings 73), Ben Lewis, Nick Selway, Jim McMahon (James Bashford 52), Paul Scott (Lance Randell 67), Tim Longton (Dave Emery 65), Will Jones, Matt Taylor.
