West Women’s League Premier Division One

LYDNEY are flying high in the West Women’s League Premier Division One after a big victory over Penarth at the Freedom Leisure Centre on Saturday.

They beat the newly-promoted Welsh team 2-1 and have leapfrogged over Taunton Vale to take second place after eight matches.

And it extends Lydney’s unbeaten run to four games as they head south this weekend to play strugglers Isca and University of Exeter thirds.

The game against Penarth started at a very high tempo with some brilliant play from Lydney.

Their possession was rewarded with a penalty corner which Amy Biddle rocketed into the goal. This was followed up with some more wonderful play from Lydney which saw Meghan Duncan pick the ball up and create a one-on-one chance with the goal keeper which she cooly converted into a goal.
