A NUMBER of Foresters tackled the London Marathon in draining heat on Sunday.

A total of 20 members from Forest of Dean AC took on the capital’s premier running race as popular Olympian Mo Farah finished third overall.

The fastest Forester was John Russell, who completed the 26-mile course just shy of three hours in 2.59.50.

Newent Runners’ sole member at the event was Stephen McAteer, who finished in 3.48.23.

A few from the Dean also took on the event in aid of charity, including FOD AC’s Patrick Rennison.

Rennison ran for Marie Curie in a time of 3.58.13, having trained by running up and down the Potemkin Steps in Odessa, Ukraine!

Ollie Moore from Drybrook ran in memory of his cousin Lauren Hughes, having fundraised for Asthma UK and finished in 4.05.50.

Mitch Griffin, from Mitcheldean, raised money for Meningitis Now in memory of his grandmother. He completed the course in 4.55.01.
