NEWENT held their nerve in a tense finish to narrowly defeat Cam by two runs in County League Division Two. Tom Deakin looked like he was winning the game for Cam, having blasted 79 in 74 balls for the hosts. It left Cam needing just three to win from five balls – but with their final pair of batsmen at the crease. Deakin was caught by Ed Lifely off the bowling of Andrew Brookes (3-38) to spark big celebrations from the visitors.
