THE opening weekend of North Gloucestershire League football yielded a massive 121 goals across all five divisions, with some bizarrely high scoring games and plenty of action as the new season kicked off.
Last year's Premier Division runners-up Milkwall began their season with a 3-2 win against visitors Westbury United, while Woolaston put St Briavels to the sword with a 6-2 home win.
Goals from Martin Turner and Dan Goode were enough to see Mitcheldean defeat Broadwell Reserves in a 2-0 win, and Bream Amateurs managed a 1-1 draw at home to Lydney Town Reserves.
Goalless draws settled the tie between English Bicknor and Whitecroft and Lydbrook Athletic Reserves' clash with Coleford United.
A day without clean sheets in Division One included a 6-2 home win for Blakeney over Lydney Town A, and Whitecroft Reserves shared the spoils with Ruardean Hill Rangers Reserves after a 3-3 draw.
Ellwood Reserves saw off English Bicknor Reserves during a 3-1 win, and Newent Town Reserves defeated Puma 4-1 away from home.
Mushet and Coalway United and Yorkley drew 2-2.
Division Two saw a staggering 32 goals scored on the day, more than any other division - the most notable being a 10-0 thumping for Milkwall Reserves at the hands of United Longhope and a 9-0 win for Tidenham against Westbury United Reserves.
Woolaston Reserves picked up three points in a nine goal thriller at Puma Reserves, with the visitors winning 6-3.
Lydbrook Athletic A also picked up an away win during a 3-0 turnover at Bream Amateurs Reserves, while Redmarley defeated Howle Hill 1-0 at home.
Viney St Swithins Reserves' fixture with Mitcheldean Reserves was postponed.
Newly promoted Aylburton Rovers picked up a huge win over Minsterworth Reserves, defeating the home side 9-2 in their first game in Division 3.
Ruspidge United picked up a 5-1 win against Blakeney Reserves, while Rank Outsiders started their campaign with a 2-1 win at Ruardean United.
Ruardean Hill Rangers A and Whitecroft A both recorded home wins, 2-0 against Mushet and Coalway Reserves and 2-1 against Newent Town A respectively.
Division 4 new boys Tidenham Reserves suffered a 4-2 loss on their trip to Harrow Hill A, and a 6-1 home win for Rank Outsider Reserves against Puma A.
Broadwell A won 3-0 at St Briavels Reserves, and there was also an away win for Redbrook Rovers Reserves, who dispatched Yorkley Reserves 3-1.
