EXCITING young golfer Jamie Dick has joined the professional ranks of golf.

The Cinderford-based golfer, who plays his golf out of Sherdons GC and Forest Hills GC, is being backed and managed by a group of local Forest of Dean businessmen and played his first tournament as a professional in The Wealth Design Invitational, a PGA EuroPro Tour event at Hawkstone Park GC in Shrewsbury this weekend.

Each tournament on the tour carries a top prize of £10,000, but unfortunately Jamie missed the cut after the first two rounds, showing what a challenge he faces now he’s stepped up to the next level.

His next event is the PDC Open at Charthills Golf Club today, July 29.

Jamie has represented England and Gloucestershire at both Under-18 and men’s level, was a team member of the Great Britain & Ireland Under-18 team that won the European Jacques Leglise Trophy, and recently been a member of the England ‘A’ squad.

In 2014, he won the prestigious Darwin Salver and the Faldo Series Wales Event, and came second after a playoff against Toby Tree in the 2014 Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship.
