A THIRD competition victory in as many weekends provided a perfect early Christmas present for Rhys Hopkins (pictured).

After winning the Wado Karate Federation and Western Karate Union events in previous weeks, Rhys followed up with another success at the Welsh Bushi Kai Championships in Bridgend.

As well as winning his age-group category, Rhys entered the senior men's heavyweight division for the first time and came away with the bronze medal. To top it all off, he fought for the Western Karate Union Association and helped the B team win a silver medal.
