CINDERFORD rounded off their season in style with a convincing six-try victory over Coventry.
With a strong wind at their backs the home side were quickly into their stride. After turning over possession, the ball was taken on by winger Nevaro Codlin, who was driven over for the first of his four tries of the afternoon. Rory Teague added the conversion.
Teague was on target again soon afterwards with a penalty before Coventry enjoyed a spell of pressure near the home line. They could not breach a solid looking Cinderford defence.
Cinderford increased their lead when impressive open-side flanker Will Foden went over from a line-out catch and drive, with Teague again adding the extras.
This was quickly followed by a try from winger Rob Winchle, who kicked and chased a loose ball to make it 22-0 after 25 minutes.
Teague knocked over his second penalty with five minutes of the half remaining and straight from the restart number eight George Evans caught the ball and set off on a charging run. He off-loaded to Codlin, who sprinted in for a cracking score. Teague's conversion made it 32-0 at half-time.
With the bonus point already in the bag the intensity went out of the game, but Cinderford comfortably dealt with any threat that Coventry could muster.
Codlin completed his hat-trick of tries on the hour after some terrific play from Mike Wilcox. Teague converted.
From the last play of the match, Wilcox created Codlin's final try. The winger gathered a long pass and raced away to score his 18th try of the season.
Teague's conversion gave him 14 points from the match and 252 for the season – the most by any player in National League One.
