FA Cup runs at the Causeway have a habit of attracting attention from famous broadcasters.
But last Saturday’s tie against Hampton & Richmond Borough saw a famous footballing name in the Forest for a different reason.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler, who was named the Premier League commentator of the decade in 2003, arrived in Cinderford as assistant manager for the National League South side.
And Tyler praised chairman Stuart Tait and the club’s efforts creating a special day for all at Town’s match.
“The wonderful way we were treated as visitors last Saturday I will never forget and I would thank you,” he told Tait.
“The match was very good but the ambiance and hospitality even better.
“Thank you so much for the hospitality you and all connected with Cinderford Town FC showed to everyone from Hampton & Richmond last Saturday.
“Your generosity and kindness will live long in our memories.
“As you well know even non-League football has a cut-throat side which can sometimes make us wonder why we put so much energy into it.
“However you and your club clearly retain the old and proper values alongside the desire for improvement which is also vital.”
