CINDERFORD Town are seeking planning permission for renovations to their Causeway home that will allow them to continue to play at Southern League level.

The club have appplied to have two new covered terraces added to the ground on Edge Hills Road.

“Earlier this month we received information on the changes that needed to be made to the Causeway to remain at step three,” a statement from the club read.

“Whilst many of these changes were relatively small there is quite a lot of work to be done over the coming months to enable us to realise our ambition of staying in the Southern Premier League.

“This week work has started to make these changes and we have submitted plans to add two additional stands to the Causeway.

“The first will be a standing only terrace behind the nearside goal as you enter the ground, and the second a 50-seater stand to be installed opposite our currently main stand.”

A new boiler has also been installed at the ground to replace a leaking one, which powers the main function room, and the club shop has now been moved inside the clubhouse instead of operating out of a portacabin.

New manager Paul Michael has wasted no time bringing in new recruits to help out on the field, too, with former Merthyr Town trio Cameron Clark, Shane Parry and James Bloom all signed on.

The three were all awaiting international clearance for the Foresters’ trip to St Ives Town on Saturday, with goalkeeper Clark and defender Parry both in the starting line-up with Michael also playing.

Bloom joined Parry and Clark in the side against Chippenham Town at the Causeway on Tuesday night.
